WAT.ie Statistics (Last updated August 9, 2023)

– We have found that the average number of days between the date of death and date of issuance of probate in Ireland is 353 days. Issuance of probate means the Court Service has conducted their assessment, an executor has been appointed and the will – if it exists – is now available. Request to view any will here. This period covers both the time it takes the executor to request probate of the Courts Service after death, and the time it takes the Courts Service to issue probate (permission for an executor to proceed with disbursement of assets, for example). The above number is calculated from what we believe to be a sufficiently large and representative dataset and we believe the number is unlikely to change greatly over time.

– The average number of days between the date of signature of a will and the date of death of the signee is 2,670 days. This number is calculated from a small dataset and is likely to change over time, as we gain more insight.
